Other Involvements

When I was a kid, I remember looking up to the 형아’s and 누나’s (“older brothers and sisters/ older guys and girls”) who taught us in Sunday School and summer camp at my local Korean church. It seemed like these college kids were the kindest, funniest, and coolest people in the entire world, and being able to go hang out with them was what got me out of bed every Sunday morning.

When I was finally old enough, I jumped at the chance to be involved in my own local Korean community where I discovered my passion for being a mentor and working with young children.

Although I am now hundreds of miles away from my community at home, I still thrive to be a mentor and a 형 (“older brother”) through my organizational involvements.

Juni Learning

Through Juni Learning I teach young children computer-science fundamentals. My students are anywhere between 6 -13 years old, and we work with primarily with Scratch and Python to code fun projects that help them build a foundation of programming fundamentals

Just Us 4 Youth

Just Us 4 Youth (JU4Y) is an educational non-profit serving the At-Promise youth of Pomona County. At JU4Y, I updated their existing summer Youth Education program curriculum. I also created and implemented staff trainings for one of their foster care and summer event sites.
